Classes,  GILDING WEATHERVANES WORKSHOP

There is something magical about a glittering gilded vane! It is distinctive and alive. The gilded surfaces reflect off each other, dramatizing the subject. This one-day workshop focuses on the art of applying and burnishing gold leaf successfully over complex weathervane shapes. Learn how to properly prepare the metal by mechanical & chemical cleaning and sealing. Knowing exactly when the sizing is ready to accept gold is probably the best lesson any gilder can learn. You will learn it from experience as well as a few other tricks I use in gilding weathervanes. We will use 22 kt., or better, gold leaf for the project (included). If you are also taking the Art of Weathervanes Workshop, you can gild the piece you just completed. This fun workshop is a must for anyone wishing to produce weathervanes professionally.
