The grasshopper vane
crowning Faneuil Hall, in Boston, MA is probably the most famous
vane in America. It was crafted by the hands of Shem Drowne in 1742
from copper kettles. This ever-vigilant glass eyed sentinel has
surveyed the city and the harbor for over 250 years. It has
witnessed such historical events as the Boston Tea Party and the
start of the American Revolution.
